Snug Kids®
U.S. NHTSA-certified ‘Child Passenger Safety’ technicians have dedicated over 1000 man-hours to checking over 4000 child seat installations in Nissans. The result, an industry first: The Snug Kids Child Safety Seat Fit Guide. This guide lists child seats that fit the rear seats of Nissan vehicles, as well as offers invaluable tips on correct installation.
Nissan Advanced Airbag System (AABS)
Nissan Advanced Airbag System (AABS) includes dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. The inflation rate of these dual-stage airbags adjusts depending on crash severity and seat belt usage. If the front passenger seat is empty, a sensor will deactivate the airbag*.

Side-Impact Supplemental Airbags
In addition, side-impact supplemental airbags are built into the front seat (not the door), so they move with you. Standard roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags help provide enhanced head protection for front and second-row outboard passengers in certain side impacts.
*Airbags are only a supplemental restraint system; always wear your seat belt. Even with the occupant-classification sensor, rear-facing child restraints should not be placed in the front-passenger's seat. Also, in addition to any other requirement of applicable law, all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured in child restraints, booster seats, or seat belts according to their size. Airbags will only inflate in certain accidents; see your owner's manual for more details.
Seat Belts
Front seat belt pre-tensioners automatically help tighten the belts when the front airbags deploy, as well as load limiters that give a little if your body puts too much force on the belt.
Safety Design
Because accidents do happen. At Nissan, safety affects every step of development. Using computer-simulated crashes from the earliest stages, we first make sure that safety guides the actual design of the vehicle. We then move on to prototypes, where a cycle of "crash, analyze, improve" continues until we've met our own standards, even more stringent than the federal government's. Each year, in fact, Nissan conducts over 1,600 virtual crash simulations and over 800 actual crash tests to determine the safety performance of its vehicles. And the knowledge we gain through this process helps make the Nissan you drive a safer vehicle for you and your passengers.
Zone Body Construction
Zone Body construction incorporates a high-intensity cabin structure with crossmembers and reinforcements. Front and rear crumple zones help absorb impact energy before it reaches the passenger compartment.

Anti-theft System
The Anti-theft System flashes the headlights and sounds the horn if there's any attempt to open the doors or hood without a key, or remove key cylinders.
Vehicle Immobilizer Key System
The Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer Key System makes it more difficult for anyone to steal your car without your actual key. A microchip inside the key sends signal telling the engine to start. Without the key, the chip, and the signal, your Murano won't start.
