Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System
Ready to play. Nissan’s variable valve timing gives Versa outstanding power when you demand it, without requiring a large, thirsty engine. Especially when combined with an efficient, easy-breathing, 4-valve-per-cylinder, double-overhead-cam design. For a smoother, quicker responding engine – just like you’d expect from a Nissan – microfinishing, a technique developed for racing, is used to reduce friction on critical engine components.

Only-in-class 6-speed Manual Transmission
It sounds like it belongs in a sports car -maybe because it’s the only one in its class*- and you might think about buying a pair of driving gloves after a quick trip through the gears. Compared to a 5-speed, a greater number of gears allow a snappier first gear for quicker off-the-line acceleration, and a smaller rpm drop with each upshift for seamless mid-range response. It’s electronically controlled for velvety shifting and quick response, while the overdrive 4th gear and lockup torque converter allow lower engine rpm at highway speeds, for a quiet and fuel-efficient ride. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
Versa’s advanced 4-wheel ABS system (standard on 1.8 SL, available on 1.8 S with ABS Package) is there to give confident, secure braking when you need it most.

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)
Standard on 1.8 SL and available on 1.8 S with ABS Package, Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) adjusts brake proportioning for added weight in the rear from passengers or cargo – it even adjusts as fuel is used up.

Brake Assist (BA)
Brake Assist (standard on 1.8 SL, available on 1.8 S with ABS Package) senses the need for maximum braking by monitoring how quickly the brake pedal is depressed and immediately applies maximum available power boost.

Electric Power Steering
Instead of using a traditional hydraulic system, Versa offers a standard electrically assisted power steering system helping provide light effort during parking maneuvers and a firm secure feeling at higher speeds.

Ripple-control Shock Absorbers
Conventional shock absorbers are quite simply designed to absorb shocks. The problem is, when they hit a bump they tend to vibrate – sending little “ripples” through the suspension that can be felt by those riding in the car. Nissan “ripple-control” shocks help damp out unwanted motions and vibrations, giving you a smoother, quieter, more-controlled ride.

Electronic Throttle, Drive by Wire
Standard on the new Nissan Versa, a sensor on the gas pedal transmits throttle position to the engine electronically, providing on-demand torque control for smoother shifting.
